my favorite things

It has been a little while since I shared a “these are a few of my favorite things” posts…

So here we go! Scroll down for 15 of my favorite things, from fashion & beauty essentials to food & pop culture picks.

my favorite things

Home Essential.

I’m not always a candle person… I love them, but with three cats that tend to jump all over everything, well I kinda get nervous! However, with the temps dropping & the seasons changing, I’ve really been into candles. Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille is soft & warm & sexy, & the perfect fall scent for my home.

Skincare Secret.

It’s safe to say I’m really feeling Fall… & this clarifying mask by Summer Fridays uses vitamin-packed pumpkin & exfoliating apricot seed powder to polish away dead skin cells for a luminous effect. Honestly, It smells so good, I want to eat it!

Best Lipstick.

Once again, I’m gonna blame it on the weather: I’m a sucker for a bold lip year-round, but when the temps drop & the layers add up… I find myself rocking a red lip & mascara, instead of my usual smoky eyes.  I’m picky about my reds… I need them to have a blue undertone, not yellow or orange, so they make my teeth look whiter. I also struggle with really dry lips this time of year, so I’ve been obsessed with this Yves Saint Laurent formula lately because it’s so moisturizing!

Handbag Obsession.

Granted, I’m a handbag kind of girl… but this Dior might be my favorite bag to date. I’m a sucker for Dior, it’s true… & this one makes me feel like Carrie Bradshaw, with it slung over my arm.

Haircare Heroes.

My go-to, ever since getting my invisible bead extensions put in! ILES FORMULA leaves my hair silky smooth & shiny, & perhaps the most important with so much hair: detangling is a breeze!

Song on Repeat.

“Circles” by Post Malone is on heavy repeat right now. I’m a fan. What can I say?!

Top Shopping Spot.

I have been a superfine of Aritzia for well over a decade. They are my go-to spot for elevated basics, always with the best neutral palette & in-house brands, & the in-person shopping experience is unmatched. Hubs appreciates the convenience of online shopping, when it comes to this spot… because I always spend more when Aritzia styles me!

Outerwear MVP.

I fought the teddy bear coat trend the first season it was hot… I don’t tend to be too “trendy” when it comes to my style. I’m all about keeping it classic & always, always neutral in color. When I found Gap’s Teddy Coat online this season, I decided to go for it & here’s why: Gap carries Tall sizes (!), they have multiple colors to choose from (I love options!), & the price point was perfect! I will invest in timeless pieces, but feel much better about my trendier purchases when they don’t break the bank!

Currently Craving.

Give me aaalllllllll the soups & stews! (& you thought I was going to say PIZZA!) Chili is one of the few dishes I actually make, & I’ll toot my own horn: I’m a pretty good maker of chili! We’ve also found a healthy recipe for Zuppa Toscana & Vegetable + Ground Turkey Stew. (Should I share recipes?! I feel like it’s not really my “thing,” since I don’t cook… lol!) Also, please share any soup + stew recipes in the comments below!

Signature Scent.

Similar to my story with candles, I’m not a big cologne person. I struggle with allergies & scents can trigger headaches, & I regularly just flat-out forget to put it on… but, I do have a collection of Jo Malone for those days when I’m feeling a little “extra”! I think my favorite thing about Jo Malone London is layering the scents, which is why I can’t pick just one to be my “signature.”

Currently Reading.

I’m currently taking a break from all the professional development & personal growth titles… & a friend who knows her books recommended this one to me. She described it as “a mash-up of The Crucible & The Handmaid’s Tale with a dash of Mean Girls.” With a description like that, I had to check it out! & then I literally read it in a day & a half…

Go-To Cocktail.

I have been craving red wine lately! There’s something about coming home at night, pouring myself a glass, turning on the fireplace & unwinding while Hubs rubs my feet… that makes me feel like such an “adult!” Silly? Maybe. But, I love it.

Godfather of Harlem

Binge-Worthy Show.

We neeeedddd more than one episode to come out at a time, puh-lease!! Forest Whitaker is so good as gangster, Bumpy Johnson, & Swizz Beatz kills it with the perfect moody music. Set in 1960s New York, Godfather of Harlem is inspired by the story of Harlem crime boss Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson. After spending 11 years in Alcatraz, Johnson returns to his old Harlem stomping grounds where he once ruled, only now it’s governed by the Italian mob. The series follows Johnson’s hard-fought journey to reclaim Harlem amid the backdrop of the civil rights movement. You guys HAVE TO watch this. You’re welcome.

Mane Accessories.

Julie Sarinana of @SincerelyJules was one of the first influencers I fell in love with on Instagram, & when she introduced a hair accessories collab with childhood fave brand, Scunci, that was also going to be carried at Target… it was like all good things colliding. I appreciate that scrunchies are making a comeback at the exact same time that I channeled that 70s vibe with long, shaggy hair… meanin: this mane accessory fits perfectly into my life right now!

Girl Crush.

I don’t want to rush through the holiday seasons, because it’s magical… but, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to the fact that I’m counting down the days until the Super Bowl & Shakira + JLo’s half-time show! I’ve long been a fan… but, will there ever be another fashion moment that can top JLo closing down Versace in the jungle dress?! I doubt it. She’s also body goals, mama goals, & she + ARod are freaking adorable together. Yes, JLo: I’m crushing hard on you!
