One of the best pieces of marriage advice I’ve been given is, “never stop dating each other.”
Isn’t that great? It’s so easy to get caught up in the daily grind of balancing work life-home life & forget to have real conversations about other things besides our days & what needs to be done around the house. D. & I can definitely get stuck in a rut when not traveling, especially with both of us being entrepreneurs (aka: never enough time for all of the things!), so we have to make a conscious effort to make plans, get dressed up, & get out to make memories together.
We have it listed on our shared calendar as “date night” every Friday night. During the summer we tend to head to the club for dinner & drinks on the patio on Fridays, so our date nights get shuffled to Saturdays. We might *try* golfing together (this is a real test of our marriage, I swear!), go see a movie or take in an outdoor concert. Date nights in the summer are so much easier to plan, with the weather being so beautiful in Iowa & our desire to do anything outside!
This weekend we’re doing exactly that: taking a time out from our inboxes & grabbing each other by the hand. This weekend, I’m dating my husband.
What are some of your favorite outside-of-the-box things to do for date night? How do you “keep things fresh” in your relationship?
