Our Fall is full of wedding invitations!

Sure, summer is always a popular time of the year to get married, but I love a Fall wedding. Yes, I may be a little biased, as we got married on September 1. As the seasons are starting to change, it can be hard to plan what to wear as a guest. You want to carry a clutch, but nothing too small. You want to wear a heel, but nothing too high. You want to wear a cute dress, but nothing that will cause you to feel cold at night. & these are all things you have to either carry or wear, while also looking cute & effortless during cocktail hour.

There are a few rules of thumb to follow, when it comes to being the best dressed guest at your  upcoming Fall weddings. Check out my favorite wedding guest dresses below, & tell me which is your favorite in the comments below!

Know the dress code.

When it comes to having the perfect attire for any event {specifically a wedding}, knowing the dress code is the first step. Beyond just how formal or casual the outfit is, it’s important to pay attention to the crowd. Will people be more conservatively dressed {i.e. if it’s a more religious ceremony} or will other attendees be playing it less safe. The time of day the ceremony takes place & venue are often a reliable indicator as to how “dressy”  the event will be.

Try on a pop of color.

This coming from the girl that wears almost exclusively neutrals… seems strange, right? But this is a celebration! Don’t be afraid to reflect that in your outfit choice! Attending a wedding is one of those special occasions where I like to have a little fun with my look, & wear something a little outside of my usual comfort zone. My go-to color is always red, & a lot of people will steer clear of such a bold choice… but, I’m not one of them! When choosing a bold pop of color, stick with a simple style. It will help ensure that you don’t upstage the bride!

Play with patterns.

Again, not something I typically do in my daily wardrobe choices… but I’ve been crushing on the girlier trends with ruffles, patterns, & sheer elements lately. Floral seems to scream “spring”… however, dark florals are trending for fall. I always lean on leopard as a neutral, & patterns with geometric elements feel true to my personal style.

If you’re going to wear black, add a little something “extra.”

You can never go wrong with a LBD… it’s timeless! If you’re going to go with this classic color, try an unexpected shape or style. An unexpected neckline, open back or asymmetrical hem line will add a little extra interest to a tried & true closet staple.

Accessories are everything.

I’ll typically attempt to do something different than my everyday style, when it comes to my hair & special events. One of my favorite looks is a middle part & super straight, sleek hair! I love-love-love to throw on a pair of sparkly statement earrings & keep the rest of my accessories to a minimum. Something dramatic in my ears instantly makes me feel so glam & elevates even the simplest of outfit looks!
